Pancit Palabok is a Filipino Dish which Typically can be found at fast-food chains in the Philippines. It is however also a common Filipino recipe made in the Filipino kitchen.
The first time I tasted this Filipino Recipe was in a fast-food chain, and I was amazed by the taste!
Unfortunately, there are no fast-food chains in the Netherlands that sell Pancit Palabok, so I decided to buy a sachet of palabok mix in a nearby store and the other ingredients, needed for Palabok, at a local store.
Palabok isn’t a difficult recipe to make when you follow the steps. Just make sure you use the right amount of ingredients so the mixture will be great! You may want to add some water to the Palabok Mixture if you think it’s too dry.
This recipe is created with a Mamasita’s mix. In my country there are no Atsuete seeds (Also known as annat seeds). One of our followers at Filipino-dishes.org asked how this recipe could be made without the Mamasita mix so I’ve added the ingredients for the atsuete seeds as well.
An original way of preparing this Palabok recipe is described below:
When it’s thick enough put the noodles in a serving plate and put the sauce over it.
Palabok Recipe is commonly served with lemon.
Below you will find the answer to a question from a blog reader: How the Palabok Sauce can be made without mama sita’s mix. See below the steps you need to take to make the sauce:
The Atsuete seeds are mainly used to give a reddish/orange color to the sauce. It should be dissolved in about ¼ cup of water.
After it’s dissolved it should be strained and add the remaining water with shrimp sauce into a pan.
Add the flour to the mix and bring it to a cook.
Finally stir until the sauce is thick and season with salt, pepper or fish sauce to taste.
